But there are two things to look out for that some
credit card companies have been known to pull on unwary
customers. These tactics are perfectly legal, so your only
recourse to preventing them is to be alert.

The old bait and switch. You apply for a great credit card that
gives you tons of frequent-flier miles, hoping to put all of
your shopping on it, and then head to the Bahamas in February.
When and if you get that card, study the terms carefully. If
you don't qualify for the great card, the credit card company
can send you a completely different card with different
terms--without telling you. Visit www.amex-visa-mastercard.com
for a list of reputable credit card offers.

Cash advance fees and rates. Read the fine print on your
statement and you'll see it's a very bad idea to take cash out
on your credit card. Your card might have a really low rate for
purchases, but the rate for cash advances is much higher. And
there is no grace period--you start paying interest right away.

Aside from paying a high rate on the cash you take out, you're
going to pay a fee, usually 2 percent to 4 percent of the
amount advanced. And your payments will be applied to the
lower-interest balance before they are applied to your cash
advance. Don't get yourself into trouble with either of these
two mistakes ... read the terms of your credit card offers
carefully before you activate them.

About the Author: This article was written by Beth Pardue who
has over 10 years of experience in the financial industry
assisting clients with assorted financial needs. This system is usually set up with three tiers
(qualified, mid-qualified, and non-qualifed.) Occassionally, if
the business owner has negotiated well, there will be a fourth
tier for qualified offline debit cards. While this system has
worked well for many years, the increasing number of rewards and
corporate cards being issued has made this type of pricing
obsolete.

Visa and Mastercard have many different interchange categories
for the multiple card types that are issued. Tier pricing takes
a large number of these categories and lumps them into one of
the three tier buckets available to the merchant. If the
merchant only ever takes standard credit cards then this system
will work well for them. Once they start to see more debit,
rewards, and corporate cards being used in their place of
business they will notice that their merchant services bill has
increased dramatically. This is because many of these
transactions are falling in to the mid or non qualified
transaction categories.

Some of these cards are actually not that much more to process
than a standard credit card, but the underwriting company for
the merchant account needs to make sure that they are profiting
on every transaction. They can ensure profit if they charge a
large mark up for any transactions that are not qualified. So
you may pay 2.9% for a mid qualified transaction and 3.5% for a
non qualified transaction (These numbers can range much higher
and lower.)

The fact is that some of the cards that fall into these
categories may only cost an additional quarter of a percent to
process. So the merchant may over pay by 1-2% to run certain
card types. The business owner can avoid this if they are set
up on interchange plus pricing.

What interchange plus pricing does is pass the true cost of
running the card right through to the merchant. So the fees
associated with that individual transaction will be put through
at the lowest possible cost. The business owner pays a mark up
at the end of the month based solely on their number of
transactions and the sales dollar volume. (typically .25-.50%
plus $.10-$.15 per trnasaction.)

This system will almost always prove to be a better deal than a
three tier structure. Make sure to check your latest credit
card processing statement to look for a high number of mid or
non qualified transactions. If you see them, then setting up an
interchange pluse pricing system may be the way to start saving
your business money.

About the Author: Jerry Kadish and Capital Bankcard specialize
in setting up gift and loyalty card programs and merchant
services. Sometimes two, three, or
four at a time. Credit card offers. The credit card industry is
highly competitive and banks and other financial institutions
are constantly sending out mass mailings in an attempt to lure
potential customers to switch credit card providers.

And while it is generally not advisable to regularly open new
credit accounts, there are times when doing so can be
advantageous. But how do you compare all of the credit card
offers to know that you are choosing the right credit card?
There are a few things that you should compare and consider
before making your choice.

The interest rate. Obviously the higher the interest rate, the
more you will pay in interest charges. So the lower the rate
the better. Many cards now offer zero-percent introductory
rates for periods of up to a year. Transferring a balance to a
card like this can be an effective way to pay down your debt
quickly. But you have to read the fine print.

Credit card companies usually apply your payment to the debt
with the highest interest rate first. So if your interest rate
on purchases is 12 percent, your payment will be applied to
that balance until it is paid off and then you will begin
paying off the zero-percent portion. Because of this policy,
many people realize little savings in transferring their
balance to a zero-percent card. In order to take full advantage
of the policy, you should not make any purchases on the
zero-percent card. This will ensure that the balance will be
reduced as much as possible before the introductory offer ends.

Reward programs are great ways to gain prizes or cash back by
making purchases. Some cards will actually give you a small
percentage (about one or two percent) of your purchases back as
cash. Others let you earn points that can be redeemed for all
sorts of merchandise, airline tickets, or gift certificates.
Reward programs are a great bonus, as long as you are not
paying extra for it. A higher interest rate will quickly
eliminate any savings you receive through the reward program.

Annual Fees or Service Charges. I have never used a credit card
that charges any kind of annual fee. It just makes no sense to
me. There are so many credit card companies out there competing
for my business, why should I have to pay for the privilege of
using a particular card. Even if the card offers frequent-flyer
miles or cash back, the annual fee will reduce or even eliminate
the benefit gained. Shop around and you can find a card just as
good with no annual fee.

Keep these 3 things in mind when you are comparing the credit
offer and you can be confident that you are choosing the right
credit card.

About the Author: Mike Collins is the owner of
http://www.saving-money-and-living-debt-free.com, a friendly
guide to saving money, making extra money, and getting out of
debt.

Source: http://www.isnare.com

Credit Card Processing

Perks Of Citibank Credit Card
By David Riewe

Citibank credit cards offer a wide range of benefits.
Basically, all of it features offer clients with security during
emergencies, the advantage of not bringing cash and checks, and
improving independence and responsibility in financial
management.

Other than these basic perks of credit cards, there are
specified benefits the Citibank credit cards have to offer. I’m sure you get
them, too. The thing is, you can have terrible credit and still
they flood in. Beware if you just filed bankruptcy because you
will get more of them then you know what to do with!

Credit card debt is all too easy to get into--over and over
again. We don’t feel like we are spending real money until the
bill comes, and then it’s too late. The credit card companies
know how to make it very tempting to fall back on any good
habits we’ve created and just spend away. It’s hard to get away
from, but we have to resist temptation.

When establishing good credit, one of the things we’re told to
do is to get a credit card and then use it to spend wisely.
Experts advise us to pay our bills on time and not to exceed
the credit limit. However, no one really talks to us when we
get that first card about how easily and quickly we hit that
limit, or how easy it is to miss that first monthly payment.
Once you get behind, it can be really hard to catch up.
Oftentimes, credit cards come with introductory interest rates
that are nothing or very low. But many times, those rates soon
change and you can find yourself with a full balance on your
card with an 18 or 20 percent interest rate! That interest rate
can then put you over your limit, if your not paying at least
the minimum payment, now making you susceptible to
over-the-limit fees. Before you know it, you are getting bad
reports on your credit reports for credit card debt on a card
that you haven’t even had very long.

Unfortunately, when times are hard, abusing credit cards is all
too easy. When the economy is bad and cash is tight, you might
find yourself putting your daily living expenses on your credit
cards. If there is any kind of pattern like this in your credit
card spending, it can fill up your credit reports pretty
quickly. When you are not making your payments, the credit card
companies do inquiries to verify your address or other
information. Every time someone makes an inquiry on your credit
report, it makes you look like even more of a high risk, further
worsening your credit report. All the credit card debt on your
report, even if some of it is good, can make you look high risk
for car loans or mortgages – especially if any of those cards
hold high balances. Even worse, that bad credit report can keep
you from renting an apartment or getting a job that requires a
background check.

As tempting as it is to pay with plastic, choose the “debit”
option next time and keep your future in mind. It’s normal to
risk it all when times are tough, but doing so creates more
problems later that can take years with a credit counselor to
fix. Credit card debt has long time risks, but if you use
credit cards wisely, you can build credit that brings rewards
instead.

About the Author: This article provide courtesy of
http://www.debt-removal-guide.com

Source: http://www.isnare.com

Credit Card Processing

Evaluating Credit Card Processing Companies
By Debbie Dragon

There are numerous credit card processing companies to choose
from, each offering different features and fees. Choosing a
company to process your customer's credit card payments can be
a daunting task, and sometimes you'll experience difficulties
both looking for a merchant account provider and then
afterwards- if you make the wrong selection!

Many banks will deny small business applications for merchant
accounts because they don't want to take the risk. Most small
businesses end up going through third party providers who
actually get the merchant account on your behalf; then apply
their own rate structure to your transactions.

If you operate an online business, you'll need a shopping cart
program of some kind- which must work with the system you use
to process credit cards online. Unfortunately, if you go with
a third party shopping cart rather than a custom written one it
may not work with all credit card processing gateways. You
really need to be sure that whatever shopping cart program you
use on your web site works with the merchant account you
ultimately end up using to process customer payments.

Accepting credit cards is not free! You pay the third party
merchant account provider (or the bank if you are able to
secure your own account directly with a bank that provides it)
will charge you fees in exchange for the ability to accept
credit card payments. The fees and rates you pay will vary
depending on many factors, including how long you've been in
business, the type of business you operate, your credit score,
how much of your sales are processed by phone versus online,
and the amount of credit card sales you process each month.

Some providers charge an annual fee in addition to a fee per
transaction, while other providers only charge a percentage of
each transaction processed. Typical rates for small businesses
accepting phone and mail order payments are $0.10 to $0.30 plus
2 to 3% of the transaction amount. If the merchant account
providers you are looking at want to charge over this
percentage, be sure to check out a few others to see if you can
get a lower rate before signing up. Sometimes, your credit
rating will result in your having to pay higher fees- but it's
worth shopping around a little to see if you can get a lower
percentage rate per transaction.

When you're shopping companies looking for the best merchant
account provider, make sure to compare all of the fees to see
how much you're going to end up spending per each sale. You
should also take into consideration what the application fee is
(if any), how much you pay annually, how much you must spend on
equipment needed to set up your account, and whether or not you
must maintain a monthly minimum of sales volume.

Also compare how each merchant account provider allows you to
withdraw your money- can you do it whenever you want or do you
have to do it at specific times of the month or year? How long
will it take to receive your funds once you've requested a
withdrawal or transfer of the money? How does the provider
handle charge backs?

Always read all of the forms and contracts associated with
merchant accounts before you sign anything. Understand the
terms for cancellation and what conditions the provider can
cancel your account, as well.

The process for applying for a merchant account varies
depending on the company, but you may be asked to provide a
photo of your office (even if it's in your home) to verify you
are in the location you say that you are. Some companies will
want to send a representative to photograph your place of
business. Occasionally, you'll be asked to provide a DBA or
business license, your tax returns and profit and loss
statements.

About the Author: This article has been provided courtesy of
Creditor Web, http://www.creditorweb.com .

Source: http://www.isnare.com

Credit Card Processing

Boosting Your Credit Score To Get The Best Credit Card Deal
By Ethan Hunter

Making Your Credit Rating Work For You

One of the basics of getting the most competitive credit card
deal in the market is to ensure you have the best credit record
possible. Few of us are lucky enough to be earning a six-figure
salary, and many people are likely to have other financial
undertakings that a potential lender will want to take into
account. None of this, however, should preclude you from
getting a top bracket credit rating. Getting a credit score of
700+ may be beyond some consumers, but lifting your credit
rating to a point at which lenders will furnish you with some
of their best deals is not an insurmountable task.

It can be a stressful time applying for a new line of credit.
Many consumers get upset when applying for a new credit card
when they find out their credit score is low, and they have
poor credit.

A lower credit score can impact the amount of money that
financial institutions will lend you. It can also impact on the
rate of interest at which you borrow. In some cases, the
difference between having an excellent credit rating and a poor
one could be getting a 0% deal on your credit card, and paying
an APR that touches 30%. Sometimes financial institutions won’t
even lend you a dime, based on a low credit score.

A variety of factors can impact on your credit score. Generally
speaking, lenders love stability more than anything else. Paying
amounts owed on time is but one of many variables. It could be
that you’ve lived in more than one address over the preceding
three years; or having borrowings with a variety of
institutions. It could even be down to the fact that you’ve got
too much credit already at your disposal.

But just what goes into your credit score? A report by the
analytics experts Fair Issac recently broke credit scoring down
into five categories and assessed their importance on the final
rating.

Most important was how you had paid you bills in the past with
the most emphasis on recent activity. Naturally, paying all
your bills on time is good; paying them consistently late is
bad. Having accounts that were sent to collection agencies is
even worse, though nowhere near as bad as declaring bankruptcy.
Paying your bills in a timely and consistent manner contributed
to 35 percent of the score.

Next most important was the amount of money you owe and the
amount of available credit at your disposal. The assessment of
outstanding debt fell into several categories, and included
credit cards, car loans, mortgages, home equity lines, and so
on. Also given consideration was the total amount of credit
available. If a customer has 10 credit cards that each have
$10,000 credit limits, that totals $100,000 of available
credit. Generally speaking, people who have a lot of credit
available tend to use it. This makes them a less attractive
credit risk. This amounts to 30 per cent of the total credit
score.

Also impacting on credit scores is the length of credit history
(15 percent). The longer a customer has had credit –
particularly if it's with the same financial institution – the
more points they get.

The mix of credit contributes 10 percent to the credit score.
Customers with the best scores have a mix of both revolving
credit, such as credit cards, and installment credit, such as
mortgages and car loans. Statistically, consumers with a richer
variety of experiences are better credit risks. As far as banks
and credit card companies are concerned, they know how to
handle money.

The last important factor taken into consideration is new
credit applications (10 percent). If you’ve applied for several
lines of credit in the past few months this will negatively
impact your credit score.

The antidotes to this are simple. Pay your bills in a timely
manner, particularly in the months leading up to an
application. Close unused retail store cards, credit cards and
old bank accounts with overdraft facilities. Maintain
long-standing and healthy arrangements with banks and other
lenders. Don’t apply for a stack of credit cards, loans and so
on, unless you’re absolutely sure it’s the right product for
you. It goes without saying that you shouldn’t apply for a
credit line unless you use it.

There’s a sixth factor that can contribute enormously to a
negative credit rating. In 2001 it became possible for
customers to get their own credit score in exchange for a small
fee. In the past, prospective lenders were able to keep this
score hidden, and many unscrupulous institutions used this
knowledge to charge a higher APR on credit. By being aware of
your credit score lenders can't lie and say your score was low
and charge higher APR on your credit card.

More importantly, it’s vital that you get rid of black marks on
your credit rating. Errors unfortunately happen all the time,
and erroneous reports of missed payments, referrals to debt
collectors and even bankruptcies can scupper your chances of
getting a low rate of interest and even a credit card
altogether. Query everything and haggle with credit reference
agencies so that only the information that is listed on your
credit history that should be there, is there.

You can find out your credit history by applying to one of
several companies. Many offer an online service and can furnish
you with the information both quickly and cheaply. Equifax,
Truecredit and Consumerinfo are some of the best such
providers.

Patience is the key to getting a great credit score – and the
best credit deals. You’re never going to make the jump from
having a credit score of 500 to one of 700 overnight, but by
implementing easy to follow and practical strategies, you can
quite easily leverage your credit score to a rating that is
respected by all concerned.

About the Author: Ethan Hunter is the author of many credit
related articles. If an online firm doesn?t possess credit card payment facilities, certainly it loses consumers and sales. Credit card payments are safe and secure, and they guarantee the best customer service. Besides, these payments give a more professional look to any business.

Several different types of credit card processing terminals are available in today's market. These terminals are also referred to as point of sale (POS) terminals. Their type and style depend on the kind of business and style of credit card processing. Prices also vary according to their functions and the technology they use.

Card readers with a small keypad and display are the most basic form of the POS. These are the most economical type of terminals. A credit card processing terminal first checks the customer?s card information. After that, it withdraws money for the purchase from his account and places it directly into the merchant account.

Most merchants prefer a terminal without an attached printer, while retail merchants usually go for a terminal with an integrated printer. There are also wireless machines that are more costly, but the processing volume supports their cost. Wireless credit card processing terminals are mainly used for businesses that continually change their location. Door-to-door salesmen, taxi cab drivers, and seasonal shop owners are the main other consumers of wireless terminals.

Manual credit card processing is a difficult task and it is more time consuming too. The finest choice is to automate your manual credit card processing machine, if possible. Credit card processing machines use different software packages that provide for instant processing, and encrypted SSL (secure socket layer) for safe deals. Of course, any leaks or losses of personal information immediately break the credibility of a business.

Some latest credit card processing terminals can handle multiple merchant accounts. Examples include Nurit 2085, Omni 3750, Nurit 3020, Omni 3740, and Verifone Tranz 380x2. All these terminals provide retailers a fast, low-cost way to approve and process credit card sales. Now, how does your
prospective customer pay you for your products? Clearly, it is
necessary for your site to accept, and process credit card
payments, in real time. Failure to do so, would result in a
failing enterprise.

Before you can begin the application process, there are several
standards that all credit card processors have set. Follow this
checklist and you will save yourself a significant amount of
time, and aggravation.

1) The checkout, and transaction pages must be secure. This
protects the customer from credit card, or identity fraud,
which has become epidemic. You achieve this “security” by
installing a secure socket layer certificate, or SSL. SSL
encrypts information being entered on your site as it is sent
across the Internet, so hackers are unable to steal the
transmitted information. This Certificate has become very
common, and any web host would be able to assist you.

2) A robust Shopping Cart software that utilizes the highest
degree of security, and is compatible with the credit card
processor. This program must be able to receive, and process
orders. Collect personal data, and securely transmit the credit
card data from software to the credit card processor. Most
importantly, the software should provide the building blocks
for a complete, successful customer experience.

3) Your server must have a firewall, especially if you plan on
storing the credit card information on your server. Basically,
a firewall is a combination of software, and hardware, that
inspects incoming data, and filters unwanted, or potentially
destructive packets of information. This firewall will not
allow hackers to enter your server, and steal sensitive
information.

When all these conditions have been met, you are ready to
contact your bank to open a credit card merchant’s account.
Once your account is opened, your bank will suggest a credit
card Gateway. A credit card Gateway receives the customer’s
credit card information from your web site, approves or
declines the charge, and ultimately transmits money to your
bank.

Although the process appears to be very complicated, it is
quite straightforward when you know what you are doing. Plan
ahead, avoid frustration, and provide your customers with an
easy, secure experience that will make them come back for more.

About the Author: Ted Roxan is a contributing editor of
Internet Credit Card Processing Resource. Convenience, safety and savings. The first time I had to exchange $200 of travelers checks overseas, the bank charged me $8. Later, during the same trip, I used my debit card at an ATM to get $200 from my checking account. The charge was one dollar, and that was the last time I used traveler's checks.

Travel Credit Cards And Debit Cards

It is best to carry a credit card AND a debit card, and keep them well-hidden in two separate places. Bring cards that have either zero liability, or a fifty dollar liability limit for any unauthorized charges. Ask your bank or credit card company about this. Make sure you bring a Visa card, as this seems to be the most widely accepted right now.

Sometimes an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) won't take a card for some reason. Normally, you can use the other card, which will usually work fine. That's the advantage of having two cards. By the way, criminals watch those ATMs, so be especially careful not to flash your money around when you leave an ATM.

For most travel, credit cards may be less trouble than debit cards. They can be replaced quickly if stolen. On your stolen debit card, your liability might be zero, but you probably won't have access to your account until the matter is sorted out.

On the other hand, on longer trips it's a hassle to pay the credit card bill on time, which isn't a problem with debit cards. That's another reason to carry both. On longer trips you can wait until you're a few weeks from home to use the credit card, and you'll get there before the bill does.

Another advantage travel credit and debit cards have over traveler's checks, is that when you need the local currency, you'll almost always get a better exchange rate with your cards. Plus, the cash you get from the local ATM will truly be accepted everywhere, something no traveler's checks can promise.

Be sure to call your credit card company or bank before you travel overseas. They may decline your card when you try to use it otherwise. Just let them know where you'll be and for aproximately how long. E-mail yourself the phone numbers to call in case of loss or theft, so you can get them from anywhere in the world.

To sum up : Use cards with low liability, high enough limits for your trip, and hide them well on your body. These are the requirements for good travel credit cards.

Steve Gillman hit the road at sixteen, and traveled the U.S. and Mexico alone at 17. It does if you
can benefit from the following:

Credit Card Processing Enhances Your Professional Status. When
customers know that you accept credit payments, they often are
more likely to pay more, return often, and tell their friends
if the service is good. This is because a company that makes
credit payment options available to clients is telling the
world that they care about customers and they are professional
enough to invest in systems that will enhance the shopping
experience for guests. No one likes that disappointed feeling
when, after browsing, you find something you want to buy but
then fail to find enough cash in your wallet to purchase it.
Writing a check may put you over the balance, and you don’t
want to take time to run to the ATM machine to withdraw the
money from savings. When customers can pay with a plastic card,
they may show their appreciation by returning again and again to
shop your store.

Credit Card Processing is Inexpensive. It depends on your
current business budget, of course, but you don’t have to sink
a lot of money into credit card processing equipment. All you
need do is get a merchant account services account, buy or
lease a credit card processing unit, and you are good to go.
Plug it in or take a wireless unit with you on the road to make
credit payments easy, fast, and secure. Plan on paying a
per-transaction fee of perhaps 25 cents or a low interest
monthly rate that may include minimums. Associated expenses may
include discount fees, gateway fees, print statement fees, and
membership costs. There may be others as well. Overall,
however, the benefits of a merchant account outweigh its costs.

Credit Card Processing is Flexible. You don’t have to be stuck
behind the cash register all day to appreciate the advantages
of a merchant account’s ability to provide credit card
processing. You can take a wireless unit from one destination
to another to let clients pay at the point of purchase rather
than wait for billing. You may want to invest in a pager that
will let you provide instant deliveries or prompt responses to
customer inquiries, some of which could lead to direct or
indirect sales with the option of credit card payments. You can
also set up an online Website to accept credit card payments
from potentially billions of customers around the world. It’s
all up to you, of course, as to what you’re ready to do in
terms of growing your company’s sales. You won’t need extra
staff to manage credit card processing, either. In fact, you
may be able to operate some credit card processing systems
automatically when you opt for the telephone payment system or
the Website option. But you will need to have a staff member
available at certain times for questions or troubleshooting
issues.

Don’t get left behind by competitors who already have merchant
account services and customers who expect them. Start browsing
now to learn more about Credit Card Processing.

About the Author: Shane Penrod is the founder of
http://www.Merchant-Account-Quotes.com Specializing in allowing
merchants the ability to shop and compare multiple quotes from
national merchant account providers. Low cost credit card processing involves a cheaper means to accept credit card numbers, apply them to the merchant's account, and obtain payment from the creditor for the amount. A business?s success or failure depends on whether or not it accepts credit card orders.

Low cost credit card processing is indispensable to raise the profitability of your business. Many people waste considerable amounts of money on extravagant processing. Often, processing statements are so difficult to read that it is virtually impossible to estimate how much money you are actually paying. Low cost credit card processing helps you run a more successful business operation.

In the United States, the cost of credit card processing is about $10 to $20 (per month) in flat fees, plus a small percentage of your sales, known as a discount rate. The discount rate is as low as 1.69% for an offline business, while discount rate for mail order and online merchants is about 2.19%. Using a low cost credit card processing technique, the transaction fee averages only about 25 cents for all merchants.

Low cost credit card processing falls into three types. The first is using a virtual terminal that allows manual addition of mail. The second employs a simple integration technique that connects your website directly to the credit card and bank system. The third type uses an advanced mechanism for custom-linking your system to other more composite systems using a transaction gateway server.

Lots of card processing companies offer you reliable, low cost and comprehensive credit card processing. A reliable low cost credit card processing service uses modern encryption technology to ensure security.

Credit Card Processing provides detailed information on Credit Card Processing, Online Credit Card Processing, Credit Card Processing Software, Wireless Credit Card Processing and more. What these companies do is process the credit card payments that generate from your site including following through on approvals or denials so that your shipping department knows what to ship. The credit card processing company notifies the company by email when they have received an authorization from the credit card issuer as well as notify them if the sale is declined.

Using the services of a credit card processing company can save you a great deal of time because you will not have to worry about obtaining authorizations or making sure that the payments are credited to your bank account as your processing agent takes care of all of that for you. Of course, you will pay for credit card processing, but the extra sales you can make because of your ability to accept credit cards online will make it worth the cost. Without the ability to accept credit card payments, you limit yourself to the methods of payment you can accept, meaning you have to wait for your customers to mail a check or money order. The problem with this antiquated way of accepting payments is that your customer will not likely be receptive to it and will go elsewhere to shop.

You do not want to accept the services of just anyone who offers credit card processing, but you want to do some research and locate the one who best suits your needs. Each company has its own set of fees per transaction in addition to whatever the card issuer charges for the transaction fee, which is a percentage of the sale. In addition, you want to ,make sure that the credit card processing services meets your needs for volume and type of payment options you desire including debit card processing. After all, credit card processing is to help with your business, so the processing company you choose must be willing to work with you and develop a program that best suits your needs and those of your customers. They must be able to customize your services so that you have the most important payment options for the type of merchandise you sell.

Why bother with a credit card processing company? You could, realistically, bypass the credit card processing company and manually process your credit card payments, but it would take a credit deal of time. This would mean calling for authorization and filling out the forms and submitting them to your bank the way it was done before the Internet became a big issue. Even with the use of credit card terminals, a merchant had to close out his sales for the day, and write a deposit slip for send to his bank. Credit card processing has changed all of that, thus eliminating a great deal of time, effort, and paperwork on the part of the merchant. Saving time and money means more income potential for the merchant as well as more time to devote to the customers.

Copyright (c) 2006 Jim Saka

Article Source: http://www.ApprovedArticles.com

For more information about Jim Saka or to find out how your business can can benefit from accepting credit cards online or at a place of business visit United Bank Card PS at www.unitedbankcardps.com

Credit Card Processing

Requirement of a Credit Card Processing Service in Business by Michael Braganza

Today more and more people are using the Internet and the number of older users is increasing fast. Although some merchants and establishments have yet to install credit card machines in their stores, a good majority of department stores and major outlets take plastic. There are several advantages associated with carrying credit cards. You can make emergency purchases easily, as you do not have to look for a working ATM if you suddenly run out of cash at the last minute. You do not need to carry large amounts of cash in your wallet, which can be dangerous if you are traveling abroad and do not have means to access your bank account.

A credit card, however, will also have its disadvantages. It can encourage rather than discourage spending, as it offers the illusion that no money is being spent at all. Although you are not obligated to pay the full amount that you owe the credit card company, what money you have yet to pay will be slapped with a high interest rate, further increasing your debts in the next billing cycle.

If you want to apply for a credit card and enjoy its advantages, take note of the following tips before you consider any credit card offers.

1. Study your spending habits. If you can, have a copy of your bank account printed out. Do you spend more than you earn? If you appear to be living beyond your means on a cash basis, then you may milk your pockets dry if you have a credit card.

2. Take a good look at your bank account and your total savings. Can you pay your credit card bills when the time comes to pay, and in full, at that? A common practice used by wise spenders is to look at ninety-percent of one’s savings, and then divide that amount by twelve, corresponding to the twelve months in the one year that you will be holding the credit card. They then use the allocated amount each month as the benchmark, or the maximum that they can spend using the credit card.

3. Are you applying for a credit card because you want to spend conveniently, or because you are after incentives associated with the card? Some credit cards offer incentives such as gift certificates, cash back guarantees on about one percent of total purchases, and point awarding systems that can translate into frequent flier miles. You may be forced into spending more using your credit card only to get these rewards. You may save more by saving money instead of using your credit card.

4. For how long do you intend to hold the credit card? Many credit card companies charge high annual fees after the first year of use, and these fees can make a dent on your savings. Be sure that you have enough savings to pay, and that you are earning enough money to replace any losses you may incur due to spending using your credit card.

5. How do you intend to pay for your credit card bills? Some credit card companies can arrange for an automatic debit from your savings account, although this can be inconvenient if you suddenly discover that purchases that you did not make are being credited to your account. The paperwork to return your money to you can be complicated. Moreover, credit card theft of less than five thousand dollars is usually not investigated, so you have to be prepared to take a lot of financial risks.

Although they seem to be fraught with disadvantages, credit cards can actually help you manage your finances better. As long as you know how to spend wisely and not abuse your credit cards, you can enjoy the advantages that they can offer.

Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written many articles on various subjects. Note that these fees are in addition to what you may have to pay as an upfront fee for the software required in order to set up your ecommerce facility (these fees can range from $50 to $200 usually, although nowadays some providers waive this fee altogether). You may also have to pay for a shopping cart, although this service too is now sometimes packaged as a freebie when you set up the ecommerce facility.

Here are the fees that merchants can anticipate having to pay on an ongoing basis in order to process credit cards via their website:

The most significant monthly fee you’ll be charged is what is known as the Discount Rate – a percentage of the dollar amount of every sale you process through your website. Limiting ourselves here to internet merchant accounts for US-based businesses in non-high risk industries, you can presently expect to pay between 2.19% and 2.40%.

In fact, discount rates call fall into 3 distinct categories: The lowest of these rates – the range quoted above - and the most commonly applied, is the Qualified Discount Rate which in the context of ecommerce retailing is where your customer "keys" in the card information in his computer’s browser, and the information he provides concerning his billing address matches that in the bank’s records (“AVS
match”). Some companies charge up to 10 cents per transaction for the AVS service.

On occasion however you may be charged a surcharge on top of that. The Mid-Qualified Discount Rate will be added to your normal discount rate where there is no AVS match (usually an additional .75% to 1.25%). And a further additional surcharge (the Non-Qualified Rate) of from 1.5% to 2% may be levied where your customer makes his purchase using a foreign-issued card or where the card was issued to a company or the government.

Most providers will charge you a Monthly Minimum – this is the least amount you’ll have to pay for the discount rate charges in a month. This is often $15 to $25 – so you’ll always pay at least that much, even if you don’t process at all during the month. You’ll also most likely have to pay a monthly Statement Fee, often around $8 to $15.

A Transaction Fee is almost always charged – here you pay a set amount for each transaction you process on your website, regardless of the dollar amount. Usually this is in the 17 to 30 cent range.

The other standard monthly charge – and this applies only to ecommerce processing – is the Gateway Fee, generally in the $15 to $30/month range. This fee is to cover the costs of connecting your website software and shopping cart to the transaction processing system.

We don’t have the space here to go into all the other fees you may come across in operating your ecommerce business, but we’ll briefly mention three of them here:

• a Chargeback (often $20 to $40) whenever a customer has a dispute about what you charged him, or whether you delivered the goods or services promised.

• a Programming Fee, if you are switching from one provider to a different one.

• a Cancellation Fee, where you sign a long term agreement and want out early.

So as you can see, there are a lot of different costs you can be hit with when running your ecommerce business. So before you sign with any particular company, have them give you, in writing, a complete list of all the possible fees they might levy against you. It pays to shop around.

Colin Albert operates The Merchant Account Explorer website, which offers advice and recommendations for merchants looking for ecommerce credit card processing solutions. The service enables business owners to comparison shop for the most suitable internet merchant account for their particular needs.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Colin_Albert
http://EzineArticles.com/?Ecommerce-Credit-Card-Processing:-The-Fees&id=372131

Credit Card Processing

Credit Card Processing On The Internet
By Ted Roxan

So you have finally finished your e-commerce web site, hired
the best web publisher, added all the bells and whistles,
outstanding graphics, and great merchandise.

Credit
card machines come in a variety of price ranges, offering
enough choices that you can select exactly the model your
business would thrive with. Credit card machines are a must for
any business to succeed in today’s market. Credit card machines
tap into the most popular form of payment for products and
services: credit cards. Since the evolution of the atm card
into a debit card, credit card machines have developed many
talents. Credit card machines can run payments on a card as a
check, as a debt transaction straight from a checking account,
or as a credit card payment that a patron will pay at a later
date as decided by the credit card company.

Credit card machines offer the security of positive payment. A
credit card machine offers increased reliability, ensuring
money is in an account before your clients leave with product.
Money saved in bad check recovery more than makes up for the
cost of credit card machines. There are many different kinds of
credit card machines.

Some credit card machines tap into the credit system without a
printer. These terminals make sense for mail order or phone
order businesses. When a merchant does not need to issue a
receipt of sale at the time of the sale, the merchant can save
money by not buying a terminal-printer combo.

Credit card machines without a printer are the cheapest
machines, costing between two hundred and five hundred dollars.
Landscaping, locksmith, and plumbing businesses, businesses
where travel and on-site payment is required without immediate
access to a credit card terminal, all benefit from credit card
machines lacking printers.

Credit card machines that include a printer are the most common
form of credit card machine used in industry today. Printers on
credit card machines can be integrated impact or thermal. A
single unit dually functions to process the credit card
transaction and then to print a receipt. These machines can be
more expensive than those terminals without printers, but they
are reasonable and effective in medium volume retail. These
credit card machines range from under three hundred dollars to
nine hundred dollars. Additional options can be ordered, such
as a built in pin pad. These enable customers to enter their
pin number for debit transactions without the merchant needing
to purchase an additional machine. Some credit card machines
with built in printers require ink cartridges, but some do not.
While those that do not require ink cartridges may be slightly
more expensive they may save time and add efficiency to sales.

Wireless credit card machines provide the same functions of
general credit card machines with a few overwhelming
advantages. Wireless credit card machines do not require
separate wires to trip on. They do not require a separate phone
line. Wireless credit card machines access credit systems
faster, and provide faster turn around on sales. Wireless
credit card machines are more expensive and require wireless
service packages, but may be a must for high volume businesses.
They are effective and reliable, consisting of the most up to
date technology.

Regardless of the type of credit card machine you choose to
invest in, credit card machines can aide your business. Credit
card machines are a must for the twenty-first century and have
advanced to be more effective for you and for your customers.

About the Author: Alan Jason Smith is the owner of
http://www.creditcardspdq.com which is a great place to find
credit card links, resources and articles. You
will need to upgrade your operational methods in order to
provide customers with the highest quality of doing business
with your company, which will undoubtedly include the benefits
of business credit card processing.

Some merchants prefer to keep accounts on a cash-only basis.
They believe that money transactions can be handled more
quickly and accurately than business credit card processing.
However, what they do not take into account is the amount of
manual labor and the potential for human error that typically
accompany cash transactions. That is why, as your business
grows, it may be time to invest in a credit card processing
system.

Inexpensive and easy to operate, a business credit card
processing program will attract customers who enjoy the ease of
doing business with your organization. They will not need to
bring in the right amount of cash or worry about overspending.
Instead, they can shop for your products and services with an
easy mind, knowing that you will provide the convenience of a
credit card payment system. Whether you sell used books or
handmade baby clothes, a credit card payment option generally
attracts more clients who are willing to spend more than the
person who operates on a cash basis.

Wherever your business is headed, the going may be slow unless
you decide to grow your operation with business credit card
processing. Low monthly or per-transaction fees make this
equipment upgrade very affordable, even to merchants who are
still building a relatively small business. For example, some
companies require a small monthly gateway fee of perhaps $20 to
$25 or so in addition to a small rate per customer credit card
transaction. You may have the choice of paying perhaps 1.5% or
1.75% or 15 to 25 cents for each swipe of the card. Some
companies don’t even charge installation fees. A simply monthly
statement reflects the amount of business your new system is
bringing to the company. If after a few months you feel the
program doesn’t work well for your operation, you can always
stop using it and go back to the old way of doing things.

You can set up a retail credit card processing program using a
swiped card method of processing payments. Or you can use MOTO
for mainstream commerce. There is even an e-commerce option
when you are ready for the next step. Most systems are
compatible with numerous quality banking platforms for safe,
easy processing. It is important to work with a credit card
processing company that you can trust. Find one with a solid
reputation for quality business dealings. Get in touch with
staff members to ask questions and learn more about the
equipment, service and maintenance, as well as possible
benefits and problems with a credit card processor. Only then
should you consider signing a contract for the valuable and
exciting services provided by a business credit card processing
program.

About the Author: Shane Penrod is the founder of
Merchant-Account-Quotes.com Specializing in allowing merchants
the ability to shop and compare multiple quotes from national
merchant account providers. At this time, there are two main aspects of credit card security for credit card processing, including “AVS” and “CVV”. Both allow credit card transactions to be completed anonymously over the internet, and any merchant accepting credit cards online should require both forms of information of your customers.

Address Verification Service

The “AVS”, or address verification service, is used to determine that the address provided by a customer matches the address associated with a credit card account. This helps generate confidence that the person who is entering the credit card details is the person who owns it. While the AVS is not required to process credit card transactions, when it is provided the transaction processor will send a response back with details of how much of the address provided matches the address on the credit card.

A credit card will not be denied if the address is entered wrong, it is up to the merchant to decide what to do if the address only matches partially or not at all. You can deny the sale, or require the buyer submit additional information, or give them the opportunity to correct the address information, before processing the transaction.

Card Verification Value

The “CVV”, or card verification value, sometimes referred to as the CVV-2 is a three to four digit number found on the back of American Express, MasterCard and Visa cards. It’s on the card but not on any statements, so that if an individual has found a credit card statement in the trash, they aren’t able to complete a sale that requires the CVV code for verification purposes. When a customer is able to enter the CVV code, it’s a strong indication that the customer has the credit card in hand, which increases the potential of the card belonging to the person who is attempting to use it to make a purchase online.

Most credit card fraud online occurs when a thief has found a discarded receipt or a thrown out credit card statement, but by requiring the CVV code, the merchant can eliminate that type of fraud.

If a CVV number is entered and is incorrect, the transaction will be declined by the credit card issuer.

Providing Consumers with Top Security

If you are going to accept credit cards online for payment for products or services offered through your website, it’s imperative that you provide your customers with a guarantee that you’re protecting their credit card information.

Credit card processing typically requires that the customer’s information is transferred about four times, which means there are four instances when someone could gain access to the cardholder’s details.
When a customer first sends the credit card information to you via your checkout or web based form. You are solely responsible for security as the internet merchant, at this stage in the credit card transaction process. Having a secure server and a valid security certificate with the https protocol will protect and encrypt private information you receive from customers.

You will want to be sure that the credit card transaction processing software you use for your business is secure by using a reputable processing company.
As customer information is moved in and out of a database through the transaction process, the security must be top of the line- and this is ensured by choosing a solid company that offers encrypted software for this part of the process.

Finally, when customer credit card information is viewed or handled by you or your staff, it’s important that you ensure security at this stage as well.

This article has been provided by Creditor Web.

Churchill

Many people are aware that after they fill out a credit card application, it has to go through a few considerations on behalf of the credit card company, and that this is known as credit card processing. This process may seem to be a vague technicality for individuals who apply for a credit card, through which they will eventually learn if their application for the credit card will be approved or denied. By understanding specifically what happens during the credit card processing procedure, an individual can make sure that their information will be applied to a card that they will be more likely to get accepted when it comes to their application. If a person tries to apply for too many cards at once, they may be denied only on the basis that too many people or companies are accessing their credit file at that point in time. A person that applies to a bunch of credit cards all at once may be desperate about their financial situation and will apply for any and every credit card just to help ensure that they will be able to get some help. However, this approach may end up hurting the individual more than helping, and they may not be able to get any help from any of the credit card companies for which they apply. By understanding what is being looked at in the credit card processing state, an individual can more accurately ensure that they will be able to get a credit card by making sure that their personal information falls in line with what the credit card company is looking for in their candidates.

A credit score is a person’s rating based on the credit that they have accumulated over the years. The higher a person’s score is, the more likely they are to be considered a successful candidate for the credit card company and in return be issued a card. There are a number of things that will influence a person’s credit rating and even if a person does not know their exact credit score, they can generate a fairly accurate idea of what it would be by looking at the different things that generate the score. For example, making timely payments for other credit cards and bills will increase the rating. Missing payments will likely detract from the rating. Having more bills and credit cards and loans will make a person less likely to get another credit card, and this is especially the case when the individual has missed payments on any of these things within the last 12-24 months. There is one instance in the United States in which a person’s credit will not be affected. This is if a person misses a medical bill payment or has outstanding debt with a physician, hospital or other medical company.

The social security number will be needed as well. This is required to be valid and will be used in order to check the credit of the individual. Because of this, it is very important that the person be able to supply the correct and accurate social security number. If the name and social security number do not match up, the individual will not be able to get approved since the company will not be able to accurately research the individual.

Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written many articles on various subjects. However, that doesn't mean they are all good credit cards to have. While some bad credit credit cards really do work towards improving a person's credit, others do nothing but fleece the pockets of those who need a second chance.

Here are seven things to look for when dealing with credit cards for people with bad credit.

1. Fees, Fees and More Fees

It is true that credit cards for people with bad credit almost always have an annual fee attached to them. That being said, a few of the questionable bad credit credit cards charge much more than just an annual fee.

One of the popular credit cards for people with bad credit advertises a $48 annual fee. Not bad, right? It wouldn't be -- if that's where the fees ended. Unfortunately, this card also charges a processing fee of $29, a one-time program fee of $95 and a participation fee of $6 each month.

That's a whopping total of $178 being charged to your card before you even get it in your hands. Considering most applicants only qualify for a credit limit of $250, that leaves you with an available credit line of just $72. Not exactly the credit card you were hoping for, is it?

Do yourself a favor... When dealing with credit cards for people with bad credit, make sure you understand all of the fees involved and don't just judge a card by the annual fee or the interest rate.

2. The Facts About Secured Credit Cards

When looking for credit cards for people with bad credit, there are two categories of cards you will be looking at. These categories are called secured credit cards and unsecured credit cards.

With a secured credit card, you have to secure your line of credit with a savings account. Sometimes your credit limit will be equal to your savings account and sometimes it can be more. It really depends on the specific credit card and your personal situation.

Now understand that when you place a deposit for a secured credit card, it goes into a savings account. This is much different from a prepaid credit card. A prepaid credit card will require a deposit as well, but it works more like an ATM card than a credit card and it doesn't get reported to the credit agencies.

Because people looking for credit cards for people with bad credit usually want to improve their credit rating, it's important that you find a true secured card and not a prepaid card. Otherwise, you're not doing your credit rating any good.

3. Cash Up Front Is a Con

We've discussed that credit cards for people with bad credit often charge fees. This doesn't, however, mean that it is acceptable for them to ask you to pay for these fees up front before they issue you a card.

If a credit card company wants you to send them money before they send you a credit card, run in the other direction. Nine times out of ten, it's a scam. You'll never get the card and you'll be out your hard-earned money.

4. They Want To Charge You What?

Yes, you have bad credit. No, it's not the end of the world and you don't deserve to be tortured with ridiculous interest rates.

I've seen credit cards for people with bad credit that charge more than 20 percent interest. Forget about them. Even with bad credit, you should be able to get a credit card with a decent interest rate (lower than 18 percent).

5. Rewards vs. Rates

When looking for credit cards for people with bad credit, you might be surprised to find rewards cards on the table. Yes, people with bad credit can qualify for rewards credit cards -- but you will pay a price.

Before applying for bad credit credit cards that offer rewards, remember that these credit cards usually have higher interest rates attached. Since you're working on rebuilding your credit, you may want to focus on the lower interest rate rather than the rewards aspect of the credit cards that are available.

6. Reasonable Grace Periods

Before applying for any bad credit credit cards, make sure you know what the grace periods are. Late payments may be what got you here in the first place, and if you want to get your payments in on time, you're going to need time to do it.

Many credit card companies have whittled their grace periods away to little or nothing. Credit cards for people with bad credit should offer a minimum grace period of 20 days (preferably 25). If the card you are thinking about applying for offers a grace period of less than this, you should look elsewhere for your credit card needs.

7. The Respect Factor

While respect may not be something you think about when looking for credit cards for people with bad credit, it is definitely something you need to consider. Credit card companies should treat you with respect, regardless of your credit history.

One woman I know inquired about the high fees associated with a certain credit card and was yelled at by the company's employee. She was also criticized for her credit history and was basically told she deserved to pay the high fee. This is completely unacceptable. The companies offering bad credit credit cards that treat you with anything but the utmost respect should be avoided at all costs.

Remember, bad things happen to good people. You may have credit issues now, but you won't always be in this boat. By following the above advice and applying for good credit cards for people with bad credit, you'll make your first steps towards repairing your past and building your future.

For more tips on getting the best credit cards for people with bad credit, saving money and avoiding getting taken, a website that specializes in providing credit card tips, advice and resources.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Max_Anderson
http://EzineArticles.com/?The-Truth-About-Credit-Cards-For-People-With-Bad-Credit&id=508080

Credit Card Processing

Birds Cages - How To Choose The Right One
By David Hermansen

So you're faced with the hard decision of choosing a bird cage for your bird? Well, there are multiple things to think about, but this article will discuss the 3 most important issues involved in that decision. If you abide by the guidelines discussed below, you'll find a great cage at a great price that you're truly happy with. There's a lot to think about - not just the dimensions of the cage and the spacing between the bars. However, that is a great place to start, so let us cover that first in this article.

Choosing the right size cage & also making sure the bar spacing is safe

This is the very first issue you need to consider when shopping for bird cages. You can't even look at the other details or features of a cage until you've determined it's the right size of cage and has the right bar spacing. As a general rule of thumb; the bigger the the cage is the better, as long as the bar spacing's not too wide. At our web store, we separate birds into 3 categories; small birds, medium birds, & large birds. These categories slightly overlap because some birds fit into the high end & the low end of 2 different categories. For example, Lovebirds fit into the small birds category, but they also fit into the medium birds category.

For your education, let us quickly give you the minimum dimensions & maximum bar spacing measurements for most species of birds:

Small birds (i.e. Finches, Canaries, and Parakeets) should be in a cage that is no smaller than 18"(W) x 18"(D) x 22"(H) and they should not have bar spacing that's wider than 1/2".

Slightly larger small birds (i.e. Cockatiels, Lovebirds, and smaller types of Conures) shouldn't be in a cage smaller than 20"(W) x 18"(D) x 24"(H) and they're bar spacing shouldn't be wider than 3/4".

Medium birds (i.e. most Conures, Timnehs, and smaller Amazons) should have a cage that's at least these dimensions; 22"(W) x 20"(D) x 28"(H) and should have bar spacing no wider than 1".

Large birds (i.e. Congo African Greys, most Amazons, smaller Cockatoos) should have a parrot cage that is at least 32" x 24"(D) x 30"(H) & the bar spacing should be no wider than 1".

The biggest of the big birds (i.e. large Macaws, large Cockatoos, Toucans, and Hyacinth) should be in a cage no littler than 38"(W) x 30"(D) x 48"(H) & they can get away with spacing that's up to 1-1/2" wide. Most large parrot cages feature 1" bar spacing & that is just fine.

If your species of bird isn't named above, just find a species above that's similar in size to your bird & follow the dimension & bar spacing guidelines shown.

Choosing a good quality cage & not spending more than you have to

This is another hard aspect to face. If you have owned a generic bird cage before, you know you do not want to go through that again. The majority of first time cage buyers get a very cheap, generic cage, but they usually don't make that mistake twice. Some of the top brand names around are Kings, Avian Adventures, Invision Cages, Animal Environments, California Cages, Cages By Design, Liberty Cages, Visionary Acrylic Cages, & HQ Cages. At our web store we offer what we consider to be the very best 3 brand names available, but we have heard good and bad about all of them. The reason we offer the cages we offer is for the following 3 solid reasons;

1. The manufacturer's stand behind their cages & warranties,

2. The materials used are truly tested safe for birds (most manufacturers do not do this), and

3. We've offered or seen every brand name listed & have decided what ones we think are the most solid. Most cages offered by the brand names listed above are within approximately the same price range, so you just have to look around & see what fits you budget & your bird's specific needs. A great place to do research is within online bird forums & bird discussion boards. You can talk with other bird owners who've tried the brand name you're considering & they will gladly offer feedback on the cage that you are looking at. We do offer a bird lover's forum & the website address is listed in my biography at the bottom of this article. I urge you to visit our forum and others on the web as well, they provide great insight into what cages would work best for you & your bird.

How to choose the best retailer to buy from

This is the third and final part of this article, but it's only listed last because of how important the 2 factors listed before it are. This too is a very important part f your decision making process. If you can find a reputable store front in your region that offers top brand name cages at decent prices then that may be a good place to start. However, you will probably find that most pet supply store fronts that are offline are either extremely high priced, or they do not have any true parrot cages at all - they strictly offer small economy boxed cages that aren't large enough for the smallest of birds. This is because local store fronts have a very tough time competing with the internet retailers. Local store fronts have multiple overhead costs that need be buried into their product prices, and online stores do not have much overhead at all. So once you look locally, you'll most likely be on the web cage shopping. Now that you are online, how do you decide who you can trust? That's a great question, and not an easy one to answer. There are a few really good indicators that you can use to make a good judgment on who the trustworthy web stores are; One of the ways is something we previously discussed; head to the bird forums - if other people had a pleasant experience with an online store, you're likely to as well. I also recommend checking the sites you visit for positive customer testimonials. Web sites that do not post positive customer feedback they've received, probably haven't received any positive feedback. If you had one single customer contact you to tell you how great of an experience they had, wouldn't you place that testimonial on your web store? The last way to help determine whether a business is solid or not is to make sure they take all major credit cards, and not strictly PayPal. A site that takes all major credit cards strictly through PayPal is a red flag in my opinion. You may be wondering why on earth that's a red flag, well consider this; if a web store takes all major credit cards and the credit card companies receive too many complaints from their customers, they can actually lose their credit card processing account. That's right, the credit card processing company will actually pull their account & not let them take credit cards anymore. This then forces that online retailer to strictly offer PayPal or Google Checkout as their payment method. All internet retailers should take all major credit cards, and if they do not, it may be because they have lost their credit card processing account because of excessive customer complaints. I'm not saying that a web store shouldn't accept PayPal as a payment method, they should, but they should also be taking credit cards directly through the store's shopping cart as well.

Well, we have now covered what I consider the big 3 issues to consider when choosing a cage for your new bird. Again, there are many other factors, but these are the most important in my opinion, and if you follow these guidelines you will be very pleased with the decision you make. Plus, your bird will be proud of the decision you make on his behalf!

Until next time, this is Dave Hermansen signing off. In fact, many people are bombarded by multiple credit card offers each and every day. The question is, how do you know which credit card offers are the good ones and which ones should be thrown in the trash (after being shredded of course)? Follow these seven bits of advice.

1. What Does "Pre-Qualified" Really Mean?

First things first -- when you get those credit card offers in the mail that say you're "pre-qualified," it does not mean that you've been approved for the credit card that is being offered. You still have to apply for the card (and have your credit history run) before you'll actually be approved.

Many people have gotten frustrated because they respond to a "pre-qualified" offer only to find out they're not really approved.

Don't take it personally. "Pre-qualified" credit card offers are nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

2. The Razzle, The Dazzle and Then The Punch

When you see credit card offers touting very low interest rates (or even no interest at all), try to remember that these are "teaser" rates that will eventually go up (and may go up drastically). The credit card offer may still be a good deal, but that all really depends on what the interest goes up to after the introductory period.

Before jumping to apply for a low-interest credit card offer, see what the interest rate is really going to be after the introductory period is over.

3. Keep The Perks In Perspective

Many credit card offers include perks such as points or cash back that can be earned with each purchase. Remember, these perks may not be as great as they first appear.

A credit card with rewards attached also usually has a higher interest rate attached as well. If you carry a high balance on your credit cards, those perks are going to cost you big time.

4. It's Not About the Prize

Some of the credit card offers we receive don't even come by mail -- they come during checkout at the local store. Oftentimes, these credit card offers have a one-time discount attached, such as 10 to 15 percent off your total purchase if you apply on the spot (and approval is instant as well).

If you think it's a good idea to open a credit card to get the discount and then close the account afterwards, that's really not such a great concept. A part of your credit score is determined by how long you keep relationships with your creditors. If you have a history of opening accounts and then quickly closing them, it's going to impact your creditworthiness in the eyes of lenders.

5. What You Shouldn't Settle For

The credit card industry is definitely competitive. Because of this, you should never respond to credit card offers that require an annual fee or a "processing" fee (unless you have problems with your credit history).

If a credit card company requires an annual fee or charges you for processing your application, go elsewhere for your credit card needs. There are a number of credit card companies who will welcome your business (and won't make you pay extra for the privilege).

6. Seek Them Out

If you're not happy with the credit card offers you're being solicited with, it doesn't mean there isn't a credit card out there to meet your needs. You may just need to look a little harder.

There are hundreds of different credit cards available and finding the one that is right for you may just be a matter of doing a little online research. Many consumers turn to the web to find the credit card offers that are perfect for them.

7. Seek and Destroy

After you have reviewed a credit card offer, what do you do with it? I'll tell you what you should be doing.

Make sure you shred each of the credit card offers you receive before throwing them in the trash or you may find yourself becoming the next victim of identity theft.

Those credit card offers that infest your mailbox are also an identity theft criminal's best friend. If you don't want those credit card offers falling into the wrong hands, make sure you dispose of them properly.

By taking the above advice into consideration when dealing with credit card offers, not only will you be able to find the credit card that's right for you, but you'll also be able to avoid making a mistake due to credit card confusion.

For more tips on getting the best credit card, saving money and avoiding getting ripped off - a website that specializes in providing credit card tips, advice and resources.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Max_Anderson
http://EzineArticles.com/?Credit-Card-Offers---Navigating-Through-The-Choices&id=499883

Credit Card processing

How to Understand Credit Card Processing
By Mario G.

Your merchant account is designed to make your business transactions a smooth exchange of goods and/or services for a payment method of credit cards, debit cards, online payment centers, faxes, or over the phone transactions.

Credit Card Processing can be much easier to set up for your online business, unless you choose to go through conventional means as you would for a brick and mortar business. If you need actual credit card processing terminals for the card swipe method, you can apply for that card processing separately.

A Merchant Account allows you the freedom of accepting credit card purchases and you don't have to wonder if the customer's account is in good standing, before you make the transaction. This is a must have in today's economy. More and more online customers are choosing to bank and purchase online, so in order to be conduct your business successfully, a merchant account is essential.

A merchant account provider gives you everything you need to get started accepting credit cards... with a payment gateway, usually with set-up fees and percentage rates per transaction charges. You need to check around for the best merchant account providers and see what they charge for set-up and processing your credit card transactions.

As you expand your merchant account, you may see a need for a credit card terminal, phone order processing, and/or a wireless credit card processor. This should also be a consideration for anticipated expansion to your business when shopping initially for a merchant account provider.
A Discount Merchant Account Provider is where you will find your best deals. With any business just starting out, the merchant account provider should grow with your business and when the time is right for your business to expand, you can rest assured your initial merchant account provider can make the necessary changes with you.

A good way to know a merchant account provider is reputable, check with the Better Business Bureau Online for feedback about the merchant account provider's scoring and if they have a high or low record of complaints. Obviously, all merchant account holders have had some bad dealings with dissatisfied customers, but the percentage rate will reflect whether they have too many to consider normal or average. Other questions you should ask:

_______________________________________________________

- What kind of merchant businesses do you accept?

- What if I have less than perfect credit?

- What credit cards will my merchant account be able to accept?

- Do I need a business license?

- What is the merchant discount rate?

- What is the Address Verification System?

- Will I receive a merchant account statement?

- How will I receive my money?

- How do I apply for a merchant account?

- How long does the approval process take?

- Is there a service phone number that I can call if I need help?

_______________________________________________________

For more information about opening a merchant account http://wealthsmith.com/merchant-account-credit-card-processing.htm

Jim has found a total package merchant account set-up ideal for entrepreneurs wanting to get started with a great opportunity. http://wealthsmith.com/merchant-account-credit-card-processing.htm

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jimmy_Wilson
